Coping With Pain, A Blogger’s Story

February 16, 2008

Pain RelieverI stopped working at a physical job partly due to the backpain I was suffering from on a daily basis.  Since then, moving into another industry that requires my brain instead of my body has been very rewarding.  Gone are the days of lifting cement, drywall and plywood, now the heaviest thing I lift is a box of paper occassionally.  Its been a smooth transition going from a warehouse environment to an office environment, but it also took a large committment from myself.

It was partly a forced option to leave my physical demanding job, but I still played a major role in where my life was taking me.  For instance, the very next job I got after being lay-off at the warehouse was at a lumber factory.  This job was equally physically demanding if not more and also involved shift work.  Well, I hated shift work and my back was more sore than ever, so that’s when I finally decided to leave this type of work altogether.  Fortunitely I got layed off from the lumber factory ten weeks after being hired, it really was a blessing in disguise.

That’s when I decided to go back to school to re-educate myself to steer my life in what I considered the proper direction.  It took alot of sacrifices both financially and emotionally to leave my small town and go to the city to acquire education.  My committment was so strong that no obstacle would stand in my way.  To make a long story short on how my re-education went, for the next three years I gained 4 diplomas and several certifications for my chosen industry.  The majority of my grades were with honors and my skill set continues to be in demand today.  If you haven’t guessed by now, my education was entirely in information technology.

So here I am today, with an office job sitting, sitting and more sitting every day.  And what do I do when I get home, you guessed it, more sitting.  With all that sitting, you’d better have good posture or it can really come back to haunt you.  I have suggested to friends to go as far as buying their own chair at work to achieve the comfort level they need to get through the day.  Often companies don’t pay much attention to their employees seating requirements and usually buy their chairs in bulk for the cheapest price possible.  Where does that leave “us” who cannot tolerate poorly engineered chairs that have limited adjustments?  In most cases it leaves us with reoccurring but unnecessary pain.

Backpain and other pain related to sitting for long periods of time can have a dramatic impact on your overall health.  Having the courage to do something about it can and will begin to pay dividends immediately.  I’ve put together a list of things that I do to cope with my sitting induced backpain that I hope you will consider doing for yourself.

  • Buy a suitable chair for your computer desk - don’t be cheap
  • Insist that your employer provide you with a decent chair or bring your own
  • Research healthy postures that reduce pain
  • Take frequent breaks from your chair, go for a stroll
  • Don’t overdue it on the weekends
  • Occassionally go to the gym

Sure this is short list, and I’m no doctor, but these simple techniques are often overlooked.  Share this list with your doctor or pain specialist and I’m sure they will agree with every one of my points.  Also, I don’t believe in taking a bunch of pain releivers such as Tylenol or Asprin for pain.  These pills pollute your body and dilute the real pain you are feeling.  Just so you know, these pain relievers do not actually take away the pain, they only block the sensation.  The fact of it is, your body is still suffering the pain and will react accordingly.  If I’m going to take anything for pain, its going to be something natural that I trust, with no harmful side affects.  Currently when my back pain does decide to flare up, I use Eazol to cope with it.

Eazol is a natural pain relief supplement that is available to anyone, it was recommended to me by a friend who also suffers from occassional back pain.  She encouraged me to try it several years ago when I was working at my warehouse job.  I didn’t actually try Eazol until I had an office job, but after trying it for myself I was sold.  Now I recommend Eazol to my friends, family and readers so they too can enjoy a natural way to relieve pain.  If you are looking for an affordable and natural way to cope with pain relief you will want to try it asap!  The best part about going with Eazol is you get 2 bottles free with your order, check the deal out for yourself.

If you are working at a job that puts physical stress on your body, whether its an office job or physical labor work, you can still get effective pain relief while you implement things to improve your conditions.  For me, it was changing careers altogether and using simple techniques to cope with my backpain.  For you, it might involve additional things that you will need to discover on your own.  My overall message here is to take effective action that will put you where you want to be.
